Clicker Training Philosophy

Clicking Comes to Brookside!

I am what is referred to as a crossover trainer. Like many others, I have learned and used choke, prong, and shock collars in the past. I had heard about using a clicker with dogs, but couldn't find reliable info. Then I read Karen Pryors classic “Don’t Shoot the Dog” and was intrigued with the whole process. That’s when I decided to study with the lady who literally wrote the book on clicker training.

What's different about clicker training? Everything!! Clicks and treats make eager learners. No choke chains, prong collars, shock collars, shaker cans, or verbal corrections needed. Dogs love this technique as much as humans. Who knew dog training could be so easy, successful, and just plain fun!
